Customs court extends judicial remand of 14-kg gold smuggler by 14 days

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has asked the investigation team of Pakistan Customs to complete the investigation challan in the case of 14 kg gold smuggling. The court has extended a judicial remand of an accused Muhammad Riaz by 14 days in a notorious case of 14 kilogram gold smuggling.

Accused Muhammad Riaz was apprehended by the customs authorities after the rejection of the pre-arrest bail plea by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Accused Muhammad Riaz is the main accused in the smuggling of a huge quantity of gold into Dubai.

Earlier, the customs authorities had arrested two female suspects involved in smuggling of 14 kg gold and currencies from the Multan International Airport.

According to details, customs authorities at the Multan International Airport had recovered 14 kg gold worn by both females on their hands as bangles (Kara) and anklets (Pazaib) along with 39,000 Saudi Riyals and United Arab Emirates Dirham.
