Gul Rehman assumes charge as Collector Customs at Customs House Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Customs House Peshawar welcomed new Collector Customs Gul Rehman after the departure of Qurban Ali Khan who served for years at Peshawar as Collector Customs Collector.

According to the details, the new Collector Customs Gul Rehman was Director-Karachi at Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Karachi earlier from the post where he has detected duty and tax evasion of Rs369 million just in July 2017.

Earlier a delegation headed by the President, Frontier Customs Agents Group (FCAG), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Vice Chairman, All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, Khalid Shehzad, Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, and Asif Jamal congratulated Gul Rehman Khan on assuming charge as Collector Customs Peshawar and expressed good wishes for him.

The delegation briefed the Collector Customs regarding difficulties faced by importers, exporters and clearing agents at dry port, Torkham Customs Station and Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) Peshawar and stressed need for initiating steps for their resolution.

The delegation also informed the Collector Customs about the closed Ghulam Khan check Post at North Waziristan and other at Mohmand agency cause millions of loss to the national exchequer.

The clearing agents said that due to ineffectiveness of Pakistan Railways, export from Peshawar had declined during the period of last eight years.

They further informed the Collector Customs about the lack of facilities at Peshawar Dry Port and illegal check posts for Afghanistan bound export goods via Torkham and other problems.

They also demanded early construction of Aza Kheil Dry Port station and announcement of other Dry Port station to facilitate trade through Torkham route and to other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

According to sources the Collector insured the delegation about the required demands and said that Pakistan Customs will take every step to facilitate importers in order to support their live-hood.

The Collector Customs MCC Peshawar Gul Rehman also directed the authorities to look for the issues which have been raised by the Customs agents as they play vital role to bring importers under the net revenue collection circle. So their problems have to be solved on priority bases.

The Collector also directed the authorities at different Customs Stations and Air Flight Units to don’t frustrate the importers on minor issues and urged them to educate importers about new development in Customs Rules such that the importer prepare plan to settle their consignments.
