Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships MSC Chicago, Prosper, Chemroad Lily, Stolt Sakura and Iris carrying containers, Edible oil and Soya Bean were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FAP Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile seven more ships with Containers, General Cargo and Chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

High side berth occupancy was recorded at the port at over 66% on Monday where a total of eleven ships namely, MSC Pina, Prosper, MSC Chicago, E-Trader, Beks, Cenk, Pacific Talent, Tom Val Borg, Iris, Gaz Niaz and Stolt Sakura are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Steel Coil, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, LNG, LPG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.

Cargo handling was achieved at the port a cargo volume of 114,232 tonnes, comprising 98503 tonnes import cargo and 15729 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,218 containers (TEUs), 469 TEUs imports and 749 TEUs exports was handled at the port.  Eight ships Prosper, Pacific Talent, E Trader, MSC Chicago, Tom Val Borg, MSC Pina, Besk Cenk, Niaz Gas are sailed out to sea on Monday.

A total of seven ships Express, ALP Miami, Detroit, Karachi, Empery, Sky Globe and Porthos are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO, EVTL and MW-2 & 4 respectively on Tuesday.
