TEHRAN: Iranian state-owned animal feed importer SLAL has issued two international tenders to buy up to 200,000 tonnes of feed barley and 200,000 tonnes of corn, European traders said on Tuesday. The tenders close on Sept. 11, they said. A new tender had been expected by traders after SLAL made no purchase in its previous tender for the same volume of barley and corn in late July. SLAL has taken a back seat in Iran’s grain purchasing in recent years and its renewed activity is seen another sign the country’s grain imports are returning to traditional patterns after the nuclear sanctions deal with Western powers, traders said.
The corn and barley in the new tenders are both sought in three consignments for shipment on Sept. 15-30, Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31. The corn can be sourced from Brazil, Russia or Ukraine. The barley can be sourced from Russia, Kazakhstan, the European Union or Australia. Prices must be submitted in euros.
