About 395 contraband plastic powder bags seized by Hyderabad ASO

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad has confiscated 395 bags of foreign origin non-duty-paid smuggling plastic molding compound. The market value of the item is Rs1.3million involving customs duties and taxes of Rs293336. The action was taken at Bypass Hyderabad in the last week of August 2017-18.

Collector Model Customs House (MCC) Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq ordered his staff to frustrate the smuggling attempts in the region. The customs officers received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of foreign origin and non-duty-paid plastic molding compound.

He formed a team, comprising ASO Customs Preventive Hyderabad In-Charge Shakeel Khan, Inspector Muhammad Iqbal Mughal, Inspector Abid Ahmed Khan, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Muhammad Ayuob, Ghulam Sarwar, Nenomal, Sadique Khaskheli and Driver Aijaz Ali, which took part in the operation.

The ASO team intercepted a trailer with registration No: TLE-044 near Bypass Hyderabad and recovered foreign origin smuggling non-duty-paid 395 bags of plastic molding compound. The impounded item was being smuggled from Karachi into Faisalabad.

Before the recovery of item, the officials asked the driver for producing documents regarding the legal import of the item but he could not prove anything lawful. The team seized the compound under the Customs Act.

A case has been registered against the accused. The case has been sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action.

The ASO deposited the confiscated foreign plastic molding compound into the Hyderabad State Warehouse.
