Karachi Customs Exports serves notices on three factories to pay evaded taxes

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has issued show cause notices to three factories including M/s Shafiq International Karachi, M/s Aryan Chemicals Karachi and M/s Sufyan Garments Gharo to pay the evaded taxes.

M/s M/s Shafiq International Karachi used the wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of floor tiles items and other things cleared during the last week of August and caused the national treasury a loss of Rs2.61million.

During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports team found that the company used wrong PCT heading for which it was issued a show-cause notice No: 202/2017 to pay the evaded amounts of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion done by M/s Aryan Chemicals Karachi who got cleared a consignment of white bleach powder. The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, issued a show cause notice to the company and asked them to deposit the evaded tax amounts within fortnight.

M/s Sufyan Garments Gharo used the wrong PCT heading to get a consignment of different readymade suits and fabric buckram which were cleared during the mid of August and caused the government kitty a loss of Rs1.8million.

It is necessary to mention here that, during the last month of August, the Customs Exports has issued 16 show cause notices and seven final notices to the tax evaders warning them to clear the outstanding tax amount at the earliest to avoid stern action.
