Gwadar Customs foils bid to smuggle big quantity of hashish, handy cameras

GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate of Gwadar team has seized a huge quantity of hashish (25 kilogram) worth Rs 2.4 million during search of a vehicle. In another raid, the Customs Collectorate foiled an attempt to smuggle non-duty paid handy cameras worth Rs 1.2 million.

According to details, on a tip-off regarding possible smuggling of hashish in Jewani area, Deputy Collector Gawadar Asad ullah Larik constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Khan Mansoor.

The team during a search operation in Jewani area, intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration number: KS-258 registration of Karachi, which was going to Mirpur Khas. During the search, the customs team found 25 kilograms of hashish worth Rs2.4 million and 50 Italian made non duty paid handy cameras worth Rs 1.3 million in international market.

The team seized all items and bus which was being used to smuggle these things and arrested two smugglers who was later identified as Badshah khan and Inayat ullah Khan. Source said that the total market value of seized smuggle items is Rs3.7 million in international market.

Customs team after registering an FIR against the accused persons started investigations. Sources said that this is the second raid during the month of September.
