Customs ASO impounds millions of rupees mobile accessories, cigarettes, items

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has intensified its crackdown against  smugglers in and around the city and seized mobile accessories, cigarettes, dry milk and other goods worth millions of rupees, sources told Customs Today on Friday.

As per details, the customs ASO impounded 66 cartons of cigarettes from two vans. It was reported that Haji Nabi Bukhash loaded Rs 6.6 million cigarettes to smuggle in the local market of Lahore. In another raid, the ASO seized 9,860 kilogram milk which was being smuggled to Lahore on a truck.  The total value of the seized milk was Rs 5 million. The anti-smuggling takes seized all the dry milk into its custody.

In a third raid the Customs authorities seized millions of rupees mobile and computer accessories. The customs authorities raided a godown of Shakeel papa and impounded smuggled filters and tobacco.

The customs team that who conducted all these operations included Deputy Collector Moazzam Raza, Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Deputy Superintendent Agha Qadeer, Inspector Gulzar, Rao Elahi, Shahid Bhatti, Tariq Baig and others.

The customs authorities after registering cases against the accused parties have started further investigations.

It is necessary to mention here that customs anti smuggling teams has already intensified its efforts to foil smuggling attempts in the region. Due to comprehensive strategy adopted by customs anti smuggling teams, there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in the smuggling attempts in and around the city.
