Multan Customs impounds worth Rs18.97m vehicles & items during August

MULTAN: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Multan Office, has taken into possession worth Rs18.97million goods and vehicles during the month of August in different anti-smuggling operations in its Jurisdiction.

The anti-smuggling operations were carried out against the smuggling items and vehicles on the directions of Director Zulfiqar Younas. The Customs Intelligence launched the crackdown on the non-duty-paid vehicles.

The department detected 11 different seizure cases in its extensive actions during the month of August Fiscal Year 2017-18. About ten foreign origin smuggling vehicles valued at Rs16.97million were taken into possession in the Jurisdiction of Multan which comprises areas of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad.

The Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Dera Ghazi Khan has taken into possession five various non-duty-paid vehicles worth Rs7.30million. These vehicles were impounded by Customs Intelligence due to non-payment of duties and taxes.

The department has prepared five different seizure cases worth Rs5.670million for the duration of August.

Sadiqabad Field Intelligence Unit has also prepared two various seizure cases valued at Rs06million in its anti-smuggling activities throughout August. The Customs Intelligence teams have enhanced the monitoring of suspected routes to frustrate any attempt of smuggling in the jurisdiction.
