Faisalabad ASO recovers huge quantity of non duty paid cloth

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated smuggled cloths valued Rs3,36,000 involving duty and taxes of Rs1782201.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Muhammad Sadiq received a tip off regarding the smuggling of foreign origin cloths. He formed a team, comprising Assistant Collector Syed Samad Hamadani, Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Faizi Raza, Munir Ahmed and sepoys Muhammad Khalid Dogar, Afzal Hussain, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Ashraf and Liaqat Ali, to foil the bid.

The ASO team raided near M/s H.A Cargo Movers Rajba Road Lal Mill Chowk and recovered foreign origin cloths (6400 kilograms). On demand, Muhammad Fahim, a resident of Taj Colony failed to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.

The ASO team prepared recovery memo in the presence of accused Fahim and cloths were seized under Section 168 of the Customs Act 1969. A case was registered against the accused. The case has also been sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
