Customs Export issues notices to four companies involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has issued show cause notices to four factories, M/s Sulemania Garments Karachi, M/s Tufail Shah and Co Karachi , M/s Secure Traders and M/s Samar Knitting to recover evaded tax amounts.

According to the details, M/s Sulemania Garments used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of printed lawn, white silk and others fabrics cleared on September 2 and caused a loss of Rs 1.34 million to the national exchequer.

During scrutiny of import data, the Customs Exports team found that the company used wrong PCT heading and issued a show-cause notice no: 213/2017 to recover the evaded amount of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion by M/s Tufail Shah & Co Karachi who cleared a consignment of marble handicrafts show piece and hand word show piece. The customs authorities, after careful investigations, issued a show cause notice to the company and asked them to deposit the evaded tax amount within fortnight.

While M/s Secure Traders used wrong (PCT) headings to get a consignment of ready curtain and curtain fabrics which were cleared during 23rd of August and caused a loss of Rs 1.89 million to the national exchequer.

It is also necessary to mention here that M/s Samar Knitting cleared a consignment of kitchen accessories like folk set, spoon set, electric stove, and others, The custom authorities, after careful investigations, issued a show cause notice to the company and order to submitt relevant documents.
