KARACHI: Port Qasim Customs has recovered Rs5.8 million from M/s Engro Foods Limited, which the company had short-paid through misdeclaration of sixth schedule.
On the directives of Collector Saeed akram, Additional Director Yasin Murtaza and Deputy Colletor Ihsan Shah strengthened post release verification. During the course of scrutiny it was found that M/s Engro imported a consignment declared to contain Nollibel Z151 from different countries and claimed the sixth schedule under PCT0404.9000, which is not applicable.
Principal Appraiser Shahid Rizvi and Appraising Officer Anwar Zeb conducted the scrutiny and audit and had this wilful misuse of concessionary schedule gone un detected, national exchequer would have suffered a loss of Rs7.482 million. Port Qasim Customs has recovered a sum of Rs5.8 million approximately.
