Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.31%

BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.31%. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 7.13% or 2.87 points to trade at 43.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 5.15% or 0.92 points to end at 18.77 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 4.03% or 1.19 points to 30.75 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which fell 4.77% or 0.38 points to trade at 7.59 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 3.03% or 0.20 points to end at 6.39 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was down 2.69% or 0.30 points to 10.86.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 192 to 183 and 32 ended unchanged. Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) rose to 52-week highs; up 7.13% or 2.87 to 43.15. Shares in Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.03% or 1.19 to 30.75. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.66% to 31.88. Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 2.51 to $1290.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.05% or 0.55 to hit $51.59 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.66% or 0.85 to trade at $128.47 . USD/BRL was down 0.29% to 3.1841, while EUR/BRL rose 0.02% to 3.7517. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 92.99.
