ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has no funds to collect information through intelligence sources/informers. Shaukat, DG Directorate of I&I, deserves appreciation that he is showing outstanding performance against tax evaders and smugglers without having enough resources.

According to sources, the Directorate of I & I has no mechanism to facilitate its sources who provide them information on the basis of which smuggling goods and smuggled vehicles are impounded. They added that the I&I was provided with secret funds during the financial year 2016-17 but no fund has been provided this year.
The sources questioned as to how a source ,even police can help them, in seizures if the directorate does not have the facilitation funds to pay them.
