ISLAMABAD: Collector Customs Adjudication Islamabad Dr. Naeem Ajaz Qureshi has issued a show cause notice with reference to a seizure case No: 76/2017 to the owner of Toyota Mark X bearing fake registration No: PL-271-ICT Islamabad and fixed 3rd of October 2017 for hearing.

He has directed both respondent and reporting agency (Directorate General Customs I&I) to furnish the documentary evidence, if any, and present the oral arguments to substantiate respective position or claim. In case a party does not appear on the date fixed for hearing then the case will be decided after hearing the party present in the court. It has been reported by the Directorate General of Customs I&I that, on a tip off, the staff of the anti-smuggling signaled a non-duty-paid said smuggled car to stop near Abpara Islamabad, but the driver defied. The staff chased the vehicle for some distance, but the driver parked the vehicle on the roadside and fled the scene.

For verification, the vehicle was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory Islamabad. In response, the FSL reported after the chemical treatment that there is no number like this which means the number was tampered. No import and auction documents could be produced in term of recovered Toyota Mark X.

So collector adjudication has issued a show cause notice to the owner of the vehicle as to why the vehicle should not be impounded and why penal action should not be taken against him under Section 156 (1) (89) of the Customs Act-1969.
