220 to 500kv Guddu grid station overloaded: CEO, two others suspended over Dec 12 breakdown

ISLAMABAD: The Guddu CEO along with two other officers was suspended on charges of negligence that plunged parts of the country into darkness on Dec 12.

According to the Prime Minister’s media office, the government has suspended several officials for negligence that resulted into power outage in parts of the country. The probe into the Friday’s power suspension indicate that due to negligence and lack of coordination on the part of Guddu power plant management, 220 to 500 kv step-up Grid Station at Guddu was overloaded that resulted in tripping of the Northern transmission system,” the statement said. Therefore the government initiated against Guddu CEO Rukhsar Qureshi, Resident Engineer Maula Buksh and Senior Shift Engineer Mohammad Mominand suspended them for negligence.
