SHC seeks comments from customs officials in oil tanker seizure case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed customs officials to file para wise comments on a constitutional petition filed by Hazrat Bilal, seeking release of his oil tanker bearing registration number KV-3825 which was seized by customs officials.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Umer Sial, was hearing the petition. During the hearing, counsel for the customs again sought time to file para wise comments, therefore, the court granted time and adjourned the hearing.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner is lawful owner of the vehicle, however, the customs officials seized it without showing any lawful reason.

Citing Secretary Finance and Director, Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court to direct them to release his vehicle immediately.

He also pleaded the court to restrain them from taking any coercive action against him till final order of this petition.
