Multan Customs impounds goods & vehicles valued at Rs38.62m during Sept’s actions

MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate Multan has taken into possession vehicles and goods worth Rs38.62million during various anti-smuggling actions in September.

Collector Saud Imran Ahmad has taken plenty of pragmatic and remarkable steps towards the improvement of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) after joining his responsibilities at the collectorate. Special emphasis was laid on the revamping of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) to curb the menace of smuggling from jurisdiction.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization was re-organized and staffs were deployed strategically in the jurisdiction to foil different attempts of smuggling. Multan Customs has enhanced the monitoring of the suspected routes to intercept the non-customs-paid (NCP) vehicles. These special measures of the Anti-Smuggling Organization have certainly created deterrence on the people to be involved in the trafficking of different kinds of high valued goods. It is quite evident from the recent remarkable performance of the ASO which is going towards gradual considerable rise.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization staff during the month of September 2017 has impounded seven various non-duty-paid vehicles valued at Rs7.6million. These impounded vehicles include Suzuki Swift, Toyota Crown, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Fielder and others. Out of these impounded vehicles, one Toyota Hilux was found tampered while remaining vehicles were non-tampered during the examination of Multan Customs. The Anti-Smuggling Squad has specifically focused on the interception of smuggled vehicles in the jurisdiction to curtail the transportation of non-duty-paid vehicles from Baluchistan.

Multan Customs has conducted two successful raids and seized huge quantity of foreign origin contraband cigarettes, betel nuts, Gutka and other smuggling items worth Rs30million in its action. The Model Customs Collectorate Multan has also lodged an FIR against the accused involved in the smuggling and Investigation & Prosecution branch I&P is investigating the case to bring the actual culprits behind the bar.
