Additional Collector Adjudication Asma issues ONO in favor of ASO Sargodha

FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed has issued an Order in Original (ONO) in favor of the Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha on 3.10.2017.

Anti Smuggling Organization Sargodha has confiscated imported foreign origin used three units of illegally imported diesel engine without gear box and carrier vehicles worth Rs10,50,000 involving customs duty and taxes Rs155776.

The owner of the vehicle and Engine failed to submit any relevant legal documents regarding possession and transportation of the Smuggled items. The seizing agency confiscated the smuggled engine and vehicle according to section 16, 18 of the Customs Act 1969.

Ahmed Nawaz son of Rehmatullah appeared before the additional collector Adjudication and submitted an affidavit to deal this case on behalf of the respondents and submitted a written request to release the seized smuggled item on payments of duty and taxes and also submitted written application for summary adjudication. While no one appeared by the seizing agency has no objection on Release.

Meanwhile, as the respondents has shown his willingness to pay leviable duty and taxes on the seized items which amount to confession. Additional collector Asma Hameed issued Order in Original (ONO) No, 171/2017 in favor of the federal government under section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969. The CIF value as by the seizing agency is less than the bench mark of Rs, 150000.

However, the option is given under SRO-499 (1) 2009 to redeem the item in lieu of confiscation on payment of duty taxes leiviable on the auto parts plus a redemption fine 20% of the customs value to be appraised by the customs Faisalabad under relevant customs law.
