Quetta Intelligence thwarts smuggling of various items

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta expedited its efforts to foil the attempts of smuggling. The collectorate seized smuggling items worth Rs13.34million in the month of September.

Sources told reporter that confiscated goods include plastic powder, Iranian juices, commercial molding machines, commercial generators, Iranian grease and break oil, hashish, plastic Dana, computer accessories, Iranian diesel, electronic items and other goods in the last monthe.

The sources told CT that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta Irfan Javed received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle luxury vehicles’ tyres, chassis, computer accessories and other different items from Quetta into different cities.

He immediately constituted a raiding team. The team enhanced the vigilance in the Quetta Highway Road area and started a search operation of vehicles. During the search, the team intercepted a truck with registration No: LS-4557 which was heading out of city.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 50 tyres of luxury vehicles, five chassis of luxury jeeps, computer accessories like 10 monitors, 50 hard drives and more things worth Rs2.13million.

Two persons were arrested and an FIR was registered against smugglers who were later identified as Driver Khalid Khan and Samreen Gul Khan.

Source said Director Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta Irfan Javed is holding a daily meeting with the team-members and giving instructions to arrest the smuggling. Source said Irfan Javed appreciated the anti-smuggling team on the said performance. It was a first raid in the month of October.
