Smuggling attempt of 10-kg hashish from Landi Kotal into Peshawar aborted

PESHAWAR: An attempt of smuggling of narcotics from Landi Kotal into Peshawar was foiled by Khasadar while recovering 10 kg of hashish from a motor car at Charwazgai checkpoint on Wednesday.

Political Tehsildar, Landi Kotal, Tehseenullah said the Khasadar troops stopped a Peshawar-bound vehicle with registration No: SG-985 for checking.

During a search, 10 kg of fine quality hashish was recovered which was concealed in numerous cavities of the car.

Two alleged drug pushers, identified as Aqal Khan S/o Sardar Khan and Mujahid S/o Ibrahim of Zakha Khel tribe of Landi Kotal, were apprehended and sent to Landi Kotal lockup for further investigation, official added.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Inspector General Frontier Corp (IGFC) Major General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf paid a visit to Landi Kotal on Wednesday.

The IGFC visited Torkham border and reviewed security measures adopted on the Pak-Afghan sharing border.

On the border, the visiting army official met the Afghan border security official and the Afghan elites and assured them of unconditional support for boosting mutual cooperation and brotherhood between the two neighboring countries. In response, the Afghan forces thanked the Pak army official for his regards.

The Torkham border was closed for all kinds of movement during the IGFC visit. Due to closure of the border, residents of Pakistan and Afghanistan had to suffer multiple hardships.
