ISLAMABAD: Following the instructions of Tariq Pasha, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the customs staff, deployed at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) Islamabad, seized foreign currency notes of 40,070 Saudi Riyals from a passenger travelling to Dubai from the BBI Airport Islamabad.
According to details given by Additional Collector Nisar Ahmad Phullerwan that, during the clearance of Flight No: PK-211 from Islamabad to Dubai, one passenger named Khial Muhammad S/o Dost Muhammad, a resident of Chanak Banda Jhangdara, tehsil Dagger, Distt Buner, held a passport No: KK-0155892.
The Additional Collector told CT that the passenger was stopped at the International Departure Hall and asked to make his luggage check by the customs staff. During the checking, the customs staff recovered the said foreign origin currency.
The customs staff lodged an FIR while the said passenger was arrested after serving a notice under Section 171 of the Customs Act-1969. A case has been referred to Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department.
He told Customs Today that, under the authorization of The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), no passenger can carry above $60,000 or equal amount in a year. The customs has installed a software, which can show the details about every passenger who travels through BBIA that how many times the passenger travelled and how much money he carried during his international travelling throughout a year.
