HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence Hyderabad has confiscated 273 pieces of foreign origin Non-Duty-Paid smuggling DVD players and seven sacks of non-duty-paid smuggling home theater sound systems worth Rs01.1million involving duties and taxes of Rs249369 during a crackdown in September 2017-18 on Hatri police station bypass Hyderabad.
Sources told Customs Today that I&I Hyderabad, on the strict instructions of Directorate General Customs Intelligence & Investigation Director Shuakat Ali and I&I Hyderabad Region Director Tahir Qureshi, took effective measures to thwart the smuggling in the region.

The team started checking of the vehicles near Bypass Hyderabad. During the checking, I&I team intercepted a vehicle and recovered said 273 pieces of foreign origin Non-Duty-Paid smuggling DVD players and seven sacks of non-duty-paid contraband home theater sound systems.
The customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to show legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of abovementioned items, but he failed to provide the required documents. The customs team confiscated the goods.
The customs team registered a case of smuggling against the accused and forwarded the case to Customs I&I for further proceeding.
