FBR starts attaching property of tax defaulters

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has initiated a campaign against tax defaulters and the Regional Tax Office has started attaching immovable properties of tax defaulters.

According to details, the Inland Revenue Officer, Muhammad Saleem, has ordered to attach the immovable property no: 88 Sector G/13-2 Islamabad of alleged tax defaulter Ms. Shaista Farhan, daughter of Aslam Ashrafi, under the rules of 158 of the Income Tax rules 2002.

Ms Shaista failed to pay Rs 2 million under the head of income tax dues. According to the notice cum order, which  has been issued in the name of Shaista Farhan, the Inland Revenue Office has asked her to pay Rs 2 million for  which a notice under section 138 (1) of the income tax ordinance, 2001 has been already issued.

In view of the said default and in pursuance of recovery of income tax arrears Ms. Shaista are hereby prohibited and restrained until further orders of transferring of immoveable properties or subjecting the same to a charge in any manner and, that all persons are prohibited from taking any benefit under such transfer or Charge.

The copy of orders also has been sent to the principle officer of Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation Islamabad.
