ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha has ordered the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad and Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Headquarter to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incidents of looting the British and non-resident Pakistani families at Rawat by the some unknown persons who claimed as customs officials.
Sources told Customs Today that Chairman Pasha has directed Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib and Director General Shuakat Ali to get the details of actual facts and report him back.
According to details, Commissioner Prime Minister Coordination of Overseas Pakistanis M. Zubair Malik wrote a letter to Chairman FBR that at Rawat Rawalpindi on main highway, some unknown persons declared them as customs officials demanded gifts and money from the British and other non resident Pakistanis who were on their way back to their native cities from Islamabad Airport.
The Chairman has directed an inquiry into the whole issue and detect the fact and take stern action against those who are involved in such practices. He also directed to concerned officers to pay the surprise visits the places have been mention in the complaint. Sources told that chairman FBR has realized to all officers that corruption and misuse of authority are intolerable.
