KARACHI: Three ships C.CPA CGM Indus, M.T Sea Speed and M.T Horizon carrying containers, LPG and palm oil took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
Meanwhile five more ships, CPA CGM Tempanos, Uni Florida, Maran Gas Asclepius, Lion-M and CTG Bismuth carrying containers, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Sixty five percent berth occupancy was reported at the port on Thursday where a total of eleven ships namely CPA CGM Indus, CPA CGM Narmada, MSC Algociras, Mu Dan Song, Nicosia Pegasus, Sinar Kulal, YM Miranda, Epic Sardinia, Sea Speed, Horizon and Lahore were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload containers, general cargo canola seeds, chemicals, LPG palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 123,757 tonnes, comprising 85,434 tonnes import cargo and 38,323 export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,551 containers (TEUs), (1,534 TUEs imports and 2,017 TEUs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
Two container ships, CPA CGM Indus CPA and CGM Narmada and oil tanker Lahore sailed out to sea on Friday morning while two more ships, Gas carrier Epic Sardinia and chemicals carrier YM Miranda are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.
A total of six ships CPA CGM Tempanos, Prosper Uni Florida ,M Ping An, Bahra and Maran Gas Asclepius with containers, palm oil diesel oil and LNG are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-I, FOTCO, EETL respectively on Friday, while two more containers ships Nicotine Maersk and APL Hawall, and Coal carrier BUlk Polaris are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday. MV Ocean Prefect carrying 50,320 tonnes coal is due to arrive on Sunday, and container vessels MSC Asya and Mediterrance Bridge are due to arrive on Monday.
