Two suspects arrested in raid by Customs I&I and LEAs at KPT, security tightened

KARACHI: Security at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has been tightened after a raid  conducted by the law enforcement departments.

According to the sources, on the secret information, the Customs Intelligence and other law enforcement departments conducted a raid at KPT, during which a huge quantities of SIM cards as well as the cellular phones were seized.

Sources informed Customs Today that during the raid two suspects have been taken into custody. The investigations are still underway. The culprits used to sell a SIM card at the rate of hundred dollars to the foreigners.

The sources also said that the SIM cards given to the foreigners were being activated on the different National Identity Cards of  Pakistani citizens. During the initial investigation it has been surfaced that the government officers are also involved in the heinous crime.

The foreigners through using Pakistani SIM cards were used to commit different crimes on the social media and several accounts on the Whatsapp has also been made by which illegal activities have also been reported by the foreigners, the sources added.

The raid conducted by the law enforcement departments at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has been kept very secrete on the other hand in an initial investigation from the arrested suspects more raids are being conducted to burst the other members of the groups, informed the source.

The sources said that the departments who conducted the raid are also not disclosed with anyone but as other along with other departments Customs has played a vital role in apprehending the suspects and taking the custody of the SIM cards.

After the raid conducted by the law enforcement departments the security has been beefed up and strict checking has been ordered at the entry and exit gates.
