Customs foils attempt to smuggle cosmetics at Lahore airport

LAHORE: Customs Preventive team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport has foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of foreign origin cosmetics and arrested a couple.

According to details available to Customs Today through high official of customs an attempt of cosmetics smuggling was foiled by a team when they checked a couple of passengers.

Customs team found huge quantity of foreign made cosmetics from luggage of the accused. Customs confiscated the recovered cosmetics. Sources told that customs team has confiscated seven brief cases of the cosmetics goods from the couple. Customs took this action against the couple identified as Mr and Mr,s Muhammad Aqeel. Recovered items were included creams, lotions, beauty items, face wash, perfumes and make up kits. Couple was travelling from London to Lahore via Etihad Airways flight no: 231.

Sources told that worth of the recovered goods is more than Rs 2 million in Pakistani market and they had caused huge loss to the national kitty thorugh their act.

Customs has registered a case against the accused and launched investigation as well after confiscating the goods that was trying to smuggle. Customs team has registered a case against him under Pakistan customs Act 1969.
