Deputy Collector Adjudication Khansa summons owner of non-duty paid goods on Oct 27

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Adjudication Khansa Mehmood has issued a show cause notice to Muhammad Adnan son of Bashir Ahmed owner of seized foreign origin mobile phones under the section 180 of the Customs Act 1969 and hearing in the instant case is fixed on 27th October 2017.

She directed him to appear either in person, or through a representative duly briefed lawyer to represent case. According to details, it has been reported that foreign origin mobile phones would be smuggled from Peshawar by a bus bearing Registration No: LES 10.

A raiding party was constituted by Deputy Collector Customs held nakabandi at Service Area, Motorway on 27th August 2017.

The reported vehicle was seen coming from Peshawar side which was signaled to stop by a sepoy. A thorough search of the said vehicle led to recovery of foreign origin mobile phones. At the time of occurrence no one claimed the ownership of the seized mobile phones. Therefore there were reason to believe that the recovered phones had been brought into the country in violation of section 2 (s) and 16 of the Customs Act. Deputy collector khansa raza has called the offender and asked him why the seized mobile phones should not be confiscated and as to why penal action should not be taken under the provisions of the law.

In case no reply and no one appears for hearing on the scheduled date and time, it will be presumed that the respondent have nothing to offer in their defense and the case will be decided on the basis of evidence available on record.
