WASHINGTON: The unemployment rate in Napa County was 3.2 percent in September, down from a revised 3.8 percent in August, and below the year-ago estimate of 3.8 percent, the Employment Development Department reported last Friday. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 4.7 percent for California and 4.1 percent for the nation during the same period. The largest job increases in Napa County came from construction, transportation, warehouse and utilities, educational and health services and food services and drinking places jobs.
According to other jobs data provided by the EDD, employers with the most job ads included the Napa Valley Unified School District, Auberge du Soleil, TruStaff, Wyndham Worldwide, Silverado Resort And Spa, Target Corporation, Meritage Resort and Spa, Constellation Brands Inc., Carneros Resort & Spa and St. Helena Hospital. Occupations with the most job ads included: First-line supervisors of food preparation and serving, registered nurses, first-line supervisors of office and administrative support, food servers, housekeeping cleaners, retail salespersons, lodging desk clerks and restaurant cooks. Countywide, there were 2,900 unemployed locals one year ago, compared to 2,500 this September.
