KARACHI: The Customs Adjudication-I has recovered Rs 5.93 million from two companies, M/s Hasilpur Trading Company and M/s Asad Ullah Rice Exporters. These companies were found involved in tax evasion.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Adjudication-I Mohammad Javed issued a show-cause notice to M/s Hasilpur Trading Company for allegedly causing a loss of Rs 2.45 million to the national kitty by way of mis-declaration of classification on August 9, 2017.
According to sources, M/s Hasilpur Trading Company imported a consignment of new and used mobile phones and got them cleared by mis-declaring the classification under Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT). They allegedly availed undue and inadmissible benefits as well as exemption of sales tax.
It is pertinent to mention here, that M/s Hasilpur Trading Company itself has imported identical/same import under correct PCT heading 2401.2345. Apart from it, all other importers of news and used mobile phones have either been declared by the importers or assessed by the Collectorates. Today M/s Hasilpur Trading Company submitted 2.45 million.
Another company M/s Asad Ullah Rice Exporters exported a consignment of different kind of rice in the month of March 2017, and got them cleared by mis-declaring the classification under Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from port Qasim Terminal. The exporter used wrong PCT to clear the consignment, That company submitted 3.48 million.
