NEW DELHI: India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher. At the close in NSE, the gained 0.22%, while the index climbed 0.31%. The best performers of the session on the were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which rose 6.98% or 34.30 points to trade at 525.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) added 4.15% or 48.75 points to end at 1222.90 and State Bank Of India (NS:) was up 3.46% or 8.50 points to 254.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.42% or 22.70 points to trade at 914.55 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.80% or 30.60 points to end at 1664.90 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) was down 1.79% or 8.30 points to 454.80. The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which rose 4.10% to 1220.50, State Bank Of India (BO:) which was up 3.56% to settle at 254.50 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.83% to close at 181.65. The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.54% to 415.80 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.37% to settle at 926.75 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.07% to 534.45 at the close. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 874 to 698 and 22 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1426 rose and 1244 declined, while 121 ended unchanged. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.83% or 5.00 to 181.65. The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.96% to 11.5900.
