The Ministry of IT & Telecommunication has taken several steps to enable access to high speed Internet in Pakistan and some key steps included holding of three rounds spectrum auction for Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) 3G/4G by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to meet ever increasing demand for broadband connectivity since 2014.

The sources said the Ministry also released Telecom Policy 2015 which has resulted in increased commitment of operators to growth of Broadband services in the country.

Moreover, the sources said Universal Service Fund (USF) is being used to fund projects to provide broadband services to people in unserved/ underserved areas where there is no business case for operators.
