MCC Hyderabad earns additional revenue of Rs64.46m during 31 days

HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad generated a surplus revenue of Rs64.46/ 5.46%million during 31 days of October Financial Year 2017-18 against an earmarked proportional target of above said period under all the tax heads.

The MCC Hyderabad was assigned a proportional revenue collection target of Rs1181.270million while it earned revenue of Rs1245.726million during 31 days of October FY17-18 under all the heads.

According to details explained by sources of the MCC Hyderabad, the collectorate showed increase of Rs64.46/5.46%million against the allocated revenue target of 31 days of October FY17-18.

Additional Collector Aamer Nawaz Hamid, talking to Customs Today, explained that the MCC Hyderabad received Rs131.65/54.46% additional revenue against the assigned target of Customs Duty (CD) during 31 days of October FY17-18. The MCC Hyderabad was earmarked Rs241.720million whereas it earned Rs373.367million as CD during above said period.

The MCC Hyderabad and Sukkur Division has collected sales tax of Rs819.746million as withholding tax of Rs48.307million and FED Rs4.306million during 31 days of October 2017-18.

The major tax sources include Bonded Warehouse SWH and KPR Hyderabad, M/s Rema Cooking Oil and the Pakistan State Oil. The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) also seized non-duty-paid goods worth million of rupees during the month of October 2017-18.

The Customs Collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) also impounded non-duty-paid vehicles, including four oil tankers filled with 1,000 liter of smuggled Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD), foreign origin non-duty-paid Gutka, cigarettes of different brands and cloths, auto-parts, mobile phones and other contraband items worth million of rupees during the month of September and October 2017-18.

Sources told CT that, under the supervision of Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattak, Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid, Deputy Collector Basat Hussain, Deputy Collector Dry Port Kalimullah, Principal Appraiser Mashuq Ali Panhwar, Appraiser Ashir, Appraiser Tabassum and Superintendent Statistical Revenue played an important role in revenue collection, officials said.

The anti-smuggling campaign is in full swing in the region following the direction of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattak in order to enhance the revenue.
