Additional Collector Zahra Haider declares seizure of Honda Civic as legal

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Zahra Haider has issued Order-in-Orginal 28/2017 by declaring seizure of Honda Civic car as legal.

According to details, Anti Smuggling Organization team intercepted a Honda Civic car bearing registration no: LEB-514 near Model Town Lahore. The person available on the driving seat claimed the ownership of the vehicle identified himself as Syed Ashar Imam Zaidi son of Syed Mazhar Imam Zaidi.

On demand the owner of the above said vehicle failed to show any legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle. Intially the said vehicle was detained under section 2(kk) of Customs Act, 1969 for want of import documents. During the course of investigation a notice was also issued to the said owner under section 26 of Customs Act, requiring therein documents pertaining to legal import of the said vehicle but the said owner did not turn up even after a laps of sufficient time. The said car was referred to Punjab Forensic Science for its examination of its chassis frame.

During the hearing proceedings, Syed Ashar Imam Zaidi appeared and stated he is a bonafide purchaser and was not aware that it was non-customs paid vehicle. He requested that he will to pay and duty and taxes. The PRAL data also showed that that the vehicle chassis were not tempered.

After examining the case Additional Collector Zahra Haider issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of Customs ASO by declaring its seizure as legal.
