Adjudication-I recovers Rs 4.21m from M/s SK Enterprises

KARACHI: Customs Adjudication-I has recovered Rs 4.21 million from M/s SK Enterprises (Shabana Khan Enterprises). The company was allegedly involved in tax evasion.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Adjudication-I Mohammad Javed issued a show-cause notice to M/s Shabana Khan Enterprises for allegedly causing a loss of Rs 4.21 million by way of mis-declaration of classification.

According to sources, M/s Shabana Khan Enterprises imported a consignment of new and used mobile phones from Germany and got them cleared by mis-declaring the classification under Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT).

They allegedly availed undue and inadmissible benefit as well as exemption of sales tax. It is pertinent to mention here that M/s Shabana Khan Enterprises itself has imported identical/same import under correct PCT heading 2455.6987. Apart from it, all other importers of used and new mobile phones have either been declared by the importers or assessed by the Collectorates.

Earlier, the Customs Adjudication-I has recovered Rs 2 million from M/s Usman Babar and Company (UB Company). The company was found involved in tax evasion.  The company imported a consignment of used leather coat and jackets from China and got them cleared by mis-declaring the classification under Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT).
