FIR lodged against Inspector Farrukah , Sheikh Azam in mobile phones smuggling case

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has lodged an FIR against Customs Inspector of Model Customs Collectorate of Islamabad Farrukh Mehmood Kiyani and Sheikh Azam, a resident of Ghori Town, on the charges of mobile phones  smuggling.

Deputy Director Customs I&I informed Collector Customs Saeed Khan Jadoon regarding involvement of Inspector Kiyani in the mobile phones smuggling.

It has been revealed during the of investigation of mobile phones smuggling case by the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation that Sheikh Azam, in connivance with Inspector Farrukh Kiyani, was involved in the smuggling of mobile phones from Dubai and China.

It is pertinent to mention here that Rawalpindi Customs Intelligence team led by Deputy Director Shahid Jan  arrested a men and women namely Waseem Abbas and Samreen Shahban on Novmber 4 at Islamabad Airport outside the arrival lounge on the charges of mobile phones smuggling.

The accused, in their initial statements, told the Rawalpindi Customs intelligence that Inspector Kiyani facilitated them and helped them cleared the phones from customs counters. They said that they were going to the residence of Sheikh Azam from the airport to drop the mobile phones.

According to the source, Sheikh Azam has obtained bail before arrest from the court till November 14 while Inspector Kiyani is absconder and Rawalpindi Customs Intelligence is still in search of him and is raiding different places.
