SHEIKHUPURA: Assistant Food Controller Rana Khizar was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team in a Rs56 million corruption case.
The NAB team, on a tip-off, caught the AFC in a raid. According to a source in the Food Department, the AFC had embezzled Rs56 million through wrongdoings and malpractices in various affairs. According to NAB sources, an amount of Rs36 million has so far been recovered from the bank account of the accused.
The sources informed that the accused owns more than 66 acres of agriculture land in village Khanqah Dogran, which the NAB has confiscated. The NAB authorities will produce the accused in an accountability court on Saturday (today) while further investigation is underway.
