Research-based education stressed for country’s socio-economic development

DIKHAN: Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsud on Saturday underlined the need for taking solid measures for promoting research-based education to face challenges, successfully.

“Students should not set restrictive or limited goals up to mere obtaining M.Phil or PhD degree, rather education is meant to pay back to our society and country,” the IG observed while addressing Laptop distribution ceremony here.

He said that role of law enforcement agencies could not be overlooked in promoting of education by rendering sacrifices to ensure peaceful atmosphere for students to get education which was a need of the hour to keep pace with the modern world and successfully face challenges.

Appreciated the government’s policies for promoting quality education in the country, he said since history bore a number of instances that those nations that invested into their young lot in terms of equipping them with quality education had architected their bright future and leading prosperous life.

Thus, the government had channelized its energies and diverting more funds towards youth welfare-oriented initiatives including launching of historic Prime Minister’s Lap-top scheme project in political arena of the country.

He said that this particular scheme would give a further boost to performance of the students, enabling them to pursue studies in-depth and get knowledge, offering effective solutions to the contemporary and future challenges the society facing.

However, he advised students to fully capitalize on the scheme by using their laptops for constructive and positive purposes in order to get in-depth knowledge and achieve socio-economic development of the country besides bringing a good name to their families.

He also underlined the need for making collective efforts to defeat negative forces which were out to spoil the country’s youth by depriving them of education.

He said though government was making all-out efforts to provide financial and material resources to students, but it was also necessary for educational institutions to provide conducive learning environment in their campuses.

Vice Chancellor Gomal University Professor Dr Muhammad Sarwar VC said the Gomal University was a precious asset for the particular area and its students were serving the country through their contributions in socio-economic development process.

He also lauded the services of the teaching staff, saying students of the Gomal university were actively engaged in socio-economic development process of the country, earning a good name not only for their families but the university as well.

He said being head of the university, he would spare no effort to resolve problems of students, adding no laxity by any official of the university would be tolerated for failing to redress their complaints.

Earlier, the IG also held a meeting with the district’s police officers and was briefed about the progress with regard to incident of Garra Matt area within limits of Chudwan police station.

The IG directed for constituting special teams to arrest the remaining accused Sajawal at the earliest. He also directed to conduct inquiry into the case in a transparent and impartial manner to bring the culprits to book, soon.
