E&T dept to launch crackdown against defaulters

SARGODHA: The Excise and Taxation department will launch a crackdown soon against the property tax defaulters in the district for which a comprehensive strategy has been evolved.

According to Senior Excise and Taxation Officer, Arshad Chehal, lists of 260 major property tax defaulters have been formulated which have already been given various notices but they were unable to pay such taxes.

He said that teams had also been formulated which would ensure the recovery of property tax and professional taxes. He disclosed that such defaulter properties would be sealed without any discrimination. The ETO said that all the property tax record has been computerized in the district for the convenience of the people, adding that citizen could verify their property tax online as the complete data of property details and taxes was available on the website.

He said that computerization of property tax record will be beneficial in elimination corruption from the department.
