Multan Customs formed fact finding committee for investigations

MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate has formed fact finding committee against Customs employees allegedly involved in the smuggling of non-customs paid goods through Multan International Airport.

According to details, Multan Customs Collector Saud Imran Ahmad has formed the fact finding committee for investigate customs employee’s involvement in smuggling. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration arrested a suspected passenger from Multan International Airport who was coming from Dubai by private airlines few days ago and recovered a big quantity of non-customs-paid goods including branded cellular phones, play stations, DVD players, laptops, I-box and other valuable items worth Rs1.5million.

Federal Investigation Agency apprehended suspected passenger was identified as Safdar Ashraf, a resident of Karachi, who was already involved in various smuggling cases.

During the investigation arrested passenger revealed that customs staff were assisting him for safe clearance at Multan International Airport. The Federal Board of Investigation (FIA) lodged First Information Report against Customs Inspector Ishaq Ahmad Marral and initiated interrogations against two other customs employees including Superintendent Alam Shah and Inspector Rafiq Shah who were also present on duty at the time of clearance.

The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan has done forced transfer of these three Customs employees from Multan International Airport to Multan Customs House to probe out allegation raised up by Federal Investigation Agency.

Multan Customs Collectorate has nominated Assistant Collector (Headquarter) Zohaib Sandhila for fact finding matter to dig out real facts in smuggling matter.
