Multan Customs foils bid to smuggle cell phones from airport

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs team deputed at Multan International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of mobile phones in their action.

According to details, Collector Saud Imran received credible information that smuggling attempts of valuable goods may be possible through Multan International Airport. Multan customs staff posted at Multan International Airport has enhanced the monitoring of coming goods to thwart any attempt of smuggling on the special directions. Multan Customs teams thoroughly examined the luggage of coming passenger from abroad.

Customs team recovered 9 expensive cell phones from the luggage of passenger coming from Dubai via Shaheen Airline flight no.NL 769 at 9:30 am in Multan International Airport and recovered nine smart phones which contains almost 6 new brands and 3 were slightly used. The cell phones were recovered from the luggage of Kumail Hussain. Customs teams detained all nine recovered cell phones.

In another action, Multan Customs staff deputed at Multan International Airport recovered five branded cell phones from luggage of passenger coming Dubai. Passenger was coming through Fly Dubai via flight no. FZ 325 and it reached Multan Airport at 9:50 am. Said passenger was identified as Muhammad Sibtain.

The Model Customs Collectorate staff detained the cell phones from both passengers and enhanced the scrutiny of coming goods at Multan International Airport in order to avoid any smuggling of goods after Federal Investigation Agency arrested smuggler from involved in smuggling of goods. Further Investigations against the seized cell phones are still under way till the filing of this report.
