KARACHI: Five Ships, CMA CGM Narmada, Marvel, Zhoungyu, YM Miranda and New Century scheduled to load/offload containers, Rice, Coal, Chemicals and Diesel oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Port Qasim Electric Power Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Sunday.
Meanwhile two more Bulk cargo carriers Kosman and Kiran Caribbean with 100,708 tonnes Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Seventy six percent berth occupancy was observed at the port on Sunday where a total of twelve ships namely, CMA CGM Narmada, Safmarine Ngami, Marvel, Zhoungyu, Klima, Trade Will, Majestic Sky, YM Miranda, Golar Kevin, Al-Jassasiya, Grand-Ace-9 and New Century are currently occupying at berths to load/offload Containers Rice, Coal, Sun Flower Seeds, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemicals, LNG, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the port on Sunday where a cargo volume of 207,126 tonnes, comprising, 167,171 tonnes import cargo and 36,955 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,484 containers (TEUs), (1,539 TEUs imports and 1,945 TEUs exports) was handled.
Container vessel Safmarine Ngami sailed out to sea at night hours. while two more ships, Container vessel CMA CGM Narmada and Gas carrier Al-Jassasiya are expected to sail on Monday.
Four ships Express Black Sea, MSC Esthi, Black Pearl and Unity Discovery carrying Containers, LPG and Coal are expected to take berths at QICT, SSGC and PIBT respectively on Monday, while three more ships MSC Rachele, Al-Salam II and Kiran Caribbean with Containers, Diesel Oil and Coal are due to arrive at PQ on same day and three more ships APL Charleston, Maersk Atlantic and Maersk Atlanta are due to arrive Tuesday.
