MULTAN: Sit-in protest disrupts the anti-smuggling operations of Customs Intelligence and Investigation in the region from last two days.
According to details, Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization and Customs Intelligence suspended their anti-smuggling activities in the jurisdiction due to massive protests in the region. The Customs Collectorate has initiated smuggling operations in the region to curb smuggling and anti-smuggling squad of Multan Customs patrolling were not done in the suspected routes of jurisdiction.
Multan Customs suspended their anti-smuggling campaign on Saturday and Sunday due to adverse law in order situation in the country. Majority of roads and National Highways were blocked by protestors and traffic movement was also observed less from routine due to protest of religious followers.
Customs Anti-smuggling Organization received various threats after their successful operation against the offenders in the jurisdiction.
Multan Customs suspended their anti-smuggling operations to avoid unseen situation because protestors were violent and they were ready to perform any unlawful act. Customs directed their field staff to stay away from any mob or procession of protestors to make sure their personal security. Movement of Traffic at Sadiqabad and Dera Ghazi Khan was remained rarer in these two days due to blockage of main roads.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Office was also not performing their anti-smuggling drive in the last two days due to prevailing law in order situation in the Jurisdiction. Multan Customs and Intelligence resumed their anti-smuggling activities again after the announcement of sits -in protest.
