Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five Ships, APL-Charleston, Maersk Atlantic, Maersk Bentonville, Chemroad Orsis and Lion-M carrying containers and Plam Oil and Furnace Oil took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile seven more ships, with Chemicals, Project Cargo, Steel Coil, Furnace oil, LPG and LNG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy observed at the Port at 65% on Tuesday where a total of eleven ships namely, APL-Charleston, Maersk Atlantic, Maersk Bentonville, Marvel, Unity Discovery, Trade Will, Majestic Sky, Black Pearl, Golar Kevin, Chemroad Orsis and Lion M are currently occupying at berth to load/offload Containers Rice, Coal, Sun Flower Seeds, Soya Been Seeds, LPG, Plam oil and Furnace oil respectively.

Cargo handling remained upward trend at the port on Tuesday where a cargo volume of 170,529 tonnes, comprising, 156,657 tonnes import cargo and 13,872 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 5,210 containers (TEUs), (4,734 TEUs imports and 476 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port.

Two ships, Gas carrier Golar Kelvin and Bulk cargo carrier Majestic Sky sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while Container Vessel Maersk Bentonville is expected to sail on same day. A total five ships, Medi Chiba, Kiran Caribbean, JS Green Star, Khor Gas and Al Safiya carrying Soya Bean, Coal, Chemicals, LPG and LNG are expected to take berths at FAP, PIBT, EVTL, SSGC and EETL respectively on Wednesday, while Container Vessel Mehun is due to arrive at PQ on Thursday.
