Inflation increases by 4 percent in November 2017

ISLAMABAD: The headline inflation i.e. Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 4 percent on year on year (YoY) basis in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 3.8 percent in the previous month and 3.8 percent in November 2016, said Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Tuesday.

On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.4percent in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 0.7percent in the previous month and increase of 0.2percent in November 2016.

Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 5.5percent on (YoY) basis in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 5.3percent in the previous month and 5.3percent in November 2016.

On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.3percent in November 2017 as compared to increase of 0.9percent in previous month, and an increase of 0.2percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. November 2016.

Core inflation, measured by 20percent weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 4.2percent on (YoY) basis in November 2017 as compared to 4.0percent in the previous month and by 3.8percent in November 2016.

On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.3percent in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 0.6percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.2percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. November 2016.

SPI inflation on YoY increased by 2.1percent in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 2.1percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.6percent in November 2016. On MoM basis, it increased by 0.3percent in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 0.9percent a month earlier and an increase of 0.3percent in November 2016.

WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 2.9percent in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 2.3percent a month earlier and an increase of 2.6percent in November 2016. WPI inflation on MoM basis increased by 0.4percent in November 2017 as compared to an increase of 0.6percent a month earlier and decreases of 0.2percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. November 2016.
