ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue asked the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad to take necessary actions against the illegal smuggling of ginger, bananas, tomatoes, spices, fabrics and shawls via Chakothi (AJK) from India.

The sources of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad told Customs Today that Enforcement and Coordination of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) directed the MCC Islamabad to ensure effective surveillance and checking at the exit points like Sihala, Jhelum and Wazirabad to thwart any attempt of smuggling of the abovementioned goods into Pakistan.
Moreover, the sources said that MCC Islamabad was requested that a fortnightly report be prepared in respect of the goods smuggled into Pakistan from AJK. Finally, the report will be sent to the FBR.
