Adjudication-II recovers Rs 3.12m from M/s Rabia Traders

KARACHI: The Custom Adjudication-II has served a show cause notice on a defaulter named M/s Sabiha Garments and Export and recovered Rs 3.12 million from M/s Rabia Traders Karachi in another case.

Sources told Customs Today, that M/s Sabiha Garmnents and Export was allegedly involved in tax evasion. The company imported different types of embroidery machines on October 19, 2017 and used the wrong PCT heading. The consignment was cleared by Examiner Mustafa Ali Bilgrami.

After a careful investigation, the Customs Adjudication-II issued a final notice to the company to clear the outstanding amount of Rs 4.25 million and file all documents who used the clearance time within 14 days or receiving show cause.

Source told  that another company M/s Rabia Traders Karachi got cleared a consignment of various types of vehicles engine parts on October 17 and evaded tax amount of Rs 3.12 million.

After the careful investigation, Customs Adjudication-II served a show cause notice on the company on November 3, but it failed to clear the outstanding tax amount.

Collector Customs Adjudication-II Tahir Qureshi issued a final notice to the company on December 1st, 2017. After receiving the notice, the company deposited Rs 3.12 million in favor of the Customs Department.

Source said Collector Customs Adjudication-II Tahir Qureshi and their department showing  excellent performance in last month and Custom Adjudication-II is investigate 10 more cases during the current month and it may be possible 10 to 11 more show cause and final notices can be issued in the end of Current month of December.
