MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Superintendent Muhammad Alam Khan has been appointed as focal person of Mobile Enforcement Unit (MEU) in the Collectorate.
According to the details, the Model of Customs Collectorate has assigned new responsibilities to Superintendent Muhammad Alam Khan on the directions of Collector Saud Imran Ahmad. Mobile Enforcement Unit was not operational in the Customs Collectorate Multan before appointment of Superintendent Alam Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established Mobile Enforcement Unit (MEU) in order to prevent smuggling and non-duty paid items and for monitoring of cargo throughout the journey from the port of entry to the port of exit or from one warehouse to another.
The MEUs will be responsible for reacting in case of any alert is communicated to them from Customs authorities and coordinate with enforcement unit in any case of assistance.
Superintendent Alam Khan was performing his responsibilities at the Multan International Airport before this and he was forced transfer to Multan Customs House after Federal Investigation Agency started interrogation against him along with two other Customs employees on assisting smugglers in clearance of smuggled goods.
