5,000 laptops being given under PM scheme: AIOU VC

MULTAN: Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui has said that the AIOU is distributing over 5,000 laptops among its students across the country under the PM Laptop scheme.

Addressing a ceremony, where 84 students were given laptops under the PM Laptop scheme, here at the regional office on Sunday, he said the second phase of free education programme up to matriculation for the south Punjab students would be launched soon, as the scheme had already commenced in FATA and Balochistan.

He said that the university had introduced 26 new programmes during the last three years. He said that degree verification process was being converted to online system and now it would take only 24 hours for verification, instead of months.

He said that free education was being offered to special kids and over 1,000 jail prisoners free of cost. He said that 28 national and international conferences and over 100 workshops had been conducted during the last three years.
